" We didn't go to STIX for several months after they opened because someone had told us it was not that good. Finally, some friends wanted to try it out and we decided to give it try. STIX is by far the best Japanese steakhouse we have been to in KC (with the caveat we don’t go to a lot of Japanese steakhouses). The food is fabulous, and unlike Matt, the filet and chicken teriyaki we had on our last visit was as good as it gets. Both were cooked perfectly and the remaining chicken we took home was better the second day than when it was freshly cooked. In fairness to Matt, his review is two years old so I do think they have probably improved over their initial opening. The service is very attentive, although the skills (and attitude) of the cook you get makes a world of difference in the overall experience at the Hibachi grills. The only issue I have is the Hibachi grills are crowded in together and thus you have to deal with whatever is going on at the other tables. However, like I said, if your cook is not that entertaining, the one next to you may be putting on a great show. We have now made several visits to STIX and will continue to make it one of our special places to eat out. |

place is great for Sushi and Chinese cuisine. I was not
at all impressed with their Hibachi style eating. My
wife and I have visited nearly every Hibachi style
Japanese steak house in KC and agree that STIX is
over-priced and not nearly as good. The steak and
chicken Terriyaki is bland and the seafood is either
under cooked or overcooked. Again - they have a great
Sushi bar and the Chinese dishes are very good. I had
the Mongolian beef and it was just as good better than
I've had in a long while." |
