Bringing the Flavors from the Streets & Markets of Mexico
CacaoCacao Restaurante opened in March 2016, bringing a new, fresh Mexican restaurant concept to Johnson County. Owners Ivan (former owner of Frida's Contemporary Mexican Cuisine), Victor (owner of Ixtapa in the Northland) and Alphonso (Victor's nephew) have brought together their many years of restaurant expertise and love of Mexican cuisine to introduce diners to the many flavors of Mexico.
Chef Fernanda Reyes has created a diverse menu of Mexican favorites from soups to entrees of beef, pork, seafood, poultry and pasta, which include soup or salad of the day. Cacao's signature entree, Steak Cacao, is served with a delicious cacao sauce.
At Cacao Restaurante, discover the cuisine that makes the flavors from the streets and markets of Mexico come alive.

We love the food. This is the place for people who avoid the lard-based beans of Americanized Mexican food. You have to try the bean mousse here. And the pork loin lasagne with sweet potato "noodles". Great food, good atmosphere, great service.
Went on a Friday evening and had wonderful service! No tex-mex food here; wonderful, authentic food with the freshest of flavors. Will certainly be going back for the friendly wait staff, new entere items and adult beverages.
We've been there twice - once for dinner, once for a weekend lunch - and will be back again, soon. The food is wonderful, much more creative and favorful than many Mexican restaurants in the KC area!
Awesome food. Great hosts. Come with an open mind. Don't expect hard shell tacos with tons of cheese and lettuce -- you can get that at any regular old Mexican joint. This is gourmet Mexican food at its best. Loved it!
Total experience was awesome. The waiters are well versed with explaining menu items. The restaurant is so tastefully decorated! The service was very attentive. We chose from the lunch menu the tacos and enchilada's. Both were absolutely terrific. If you are searching for gourmet Mexican fare, you will be delighted. If you are looking for tex-mex, you are going to be disappointed. Can't wait to return for the happy hour!
