My husband & I were looking for something adventurous for date night and settled on Grunauer's based on reviews on Yelp. We were not disappointed! Our server was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We chatted about food, tattoos and her unique accent. Her recommendations were spot on for dinner and even better for dessert. All of the reviews we read before dinner raved about the apple strudel, so we ordered it as well as the recommended cheese danish. WOW! The cheese danish was AMAZING! Leaps and bounds better than the apple strudel and we fought over who got the last bite (he won). We sat on the patio and had a great view of Union Station. Overall, it was one of the best date nights we've had since we moved to KC ten years ago. We can't wait to go back and take our friends.
Had a highly enjoyable New Year's Eve dinner at Grunauer located in the Freight House District. Permeable drinks were enjoyed. A speciality drink was made for my mother-in-law who wanted something sweet. Appetizer of an sort net of meat plate was so delious and devoured by out by all. Food selections from Pasta dishes, fish and pork medallions with bread Dumplings were all outstanding. Also order the bread dumplings!, Ambiance and sound were great too. We could actually have conversations and hear one another. Our server was knowledgeable and informative. The location and free parking are another plus. Awesome evening to being in 2015.
Two friends joined me for lunch today at Grunauer. They had never been so were extremely impressed with the rustic, warm decor and historic setting. Our server was not only excellent in his knowledge of the menu but was extremely helpful in assisting us in making our choices. Our selections were well presented, just the right lunch portion with unique flavors from the Austrian heritage. I highly recommend Grunauer for not only lunch or dinner but also to try their happy hour and reverse happy hour. You will enjoy your experience.
My husband & I had dinner last night at Grunauers & it was an outstanding dining experience. We not only enjoyed the Vintage Industrial decor, but also the food was prepared , presented, & served in both a healthy & artful manner & the service was excellent as well. I am enjoying leftovers today, as the portions were more than substantial. The apple strudel dessert was also delicious & meant to be shared! All in all, we will most certainly be back!
We had a fabulous evening at Grunauer. I had the gulasch and my friends had different sausages. It is such a beautiful, warm restaurant. I would like to return for happy hour at the wunderbar. This restaurant is such a nice addition to the freight house district. Love it!
