From decor to cuisine to music, Chaz on the Plaza stands out as uniquely Kansas City. It is an intimate room that balances classic beauty with energetic vibe, rich colors with splashes of color. The room's focal point is an original photographic montage mural of Plaza architectural icons. Menus reflect the regional flavor of Executive Chef Charles dAblaings brand of modern American cuisine. His cooking style, defined by a reverent approach to quality ingredients and an unrelenting devotion to proper seasoning and cooking technique, has drawn praise from patrons and critics alike. Among the chefs favorite dishes are his signature Fried Green Tomatoes, hand-cut prime aged beef tenderloin with brie stuffed potato croquette and grilled asparagus, espilette braised shrimp and grits, and thyme encrusted diver scallops with summer squash risotto and tomato chips. Chaz is where the city's diverse sound is defined Tuesday through Sunday nights by local composers and musicians.
"Love the atmosphere, food was good but my veal was over cooked and there wasn't a trace of flavor in the Caesar salad. "
"Outstanding in every way. Live music at the perfect volume, waitstaff knowledgeable without being stuffy, very attentive but not intrusive, and the food...wow! Portions were right, price was right, flavor was amazing...kept having to slow myself down and enjoy every bite of the seared duckling. We will be back!"
"Me and a couple co-workers went here for happy hour after work on a Tuesday on a recommendation. It was really neat! There was this guy playing an acoustical guitar that was amazing! The place is really cool looking -- classy and contemporary, in a quaint, historic building. It reminds me somewhat of some really great club/restaurants I like in Chicago. I think I found my new spot after work with friends. I'm going back next Tuesday to see what other live music will be there. Apparently Tuesdays they have artists breaking into the music scene. Finally something fresh in KC that incorporates everything going out should -- great atmosphere, fresh music, great beer prices, and classy yet affordable food. "
Their food was delicious! The waitress was extremely friendly! I will be back there most certainly!
"Loved the varied menu"
