Restaurant Guide Review for April 2007
Room 39
Taking a stroll down 39th Street, you will find the most diverse, eclectic selection of restaurants, cafés and bars in the city.
One that truly stands out is Room 39.
This small, independent, intimate restaurant will literally astound
you with its amazing fare available for breakfast, lunch AND dinner. The "designer"
menu changes daily so owner Ted Habiger suggests that you go on line to see what they've come up with.
Their New American cuisine strives to make everything fresh and use local producers to reach that goal.
Soup is the favorite. The day I was there I had chilled Asparagus Soup with Truffle Oil. The texture and flavor were "to die for."
There is even a full service coffee bar that brews their own special blend.
Success has prompted Room 39 to expand to a new location south in Johnson County. The opening day is set for July 1.
The new facility will be a bit larger and offer patio dining.
Put this restaurant on your list as a "must."
You won't be disappointed. Be sure to notice the tables. They were made by the father in law of the owner.
