"Good news for anyone who loves Guadalajara Cafe in South KC... Ixtapa is run by the same family! Same menu, smae amazing authentic food, and great service. I had the waiter/owner order my entree for me and it was sooooo delicious. Polo Chapala... roasted tomatoes and jalapenos with tender chuncks of white meat and warm tortillas on the side. It was marvelous (and not on the menu). Also, you must have the tamale appetizer to start your meal. It's the best pork tamale I've ever had, and I am very critical when it comes to tamales. Ixtapa fills theirs with tender chunks of pork and a delicate tomatillo sauce with the perfect amount of spice. You should also try their chicken mole and the Ixtapa margarita... delicious! When we moved up north we thought we would never find another restaurant like Guadalajara Cafe. Well, we have and we can't wait to go back!

"It is very
hard to find authentic Mexican in Kansas City, and I definitely
found it at IXTAPA. While my husband's and my favorite dish,
enchiladas is usually drowning in red sauce and cheese at other
restaurants, at IXTAPA we found a delicious mole sauce that was very
complimentary to the chicken stuffed enchiladas. I was finally able
to convince my husband what truly delicious enchiladas are. The wait
staff was fast and polite; the owner was enthusiastic to welcome us
to his restaurant and introduce his menu. The atmosphere was quiet
and intimate, my only complaint was the lack of light. If you think
you know real Mexican food, wait until you try IXTAPA!" |

plenty for a large appetite. My wife loved the Ranchero Steak--she
said it had a wonderful flavor and a little kick. Chips & salsa also
good. My entree was also good loved the beans and rice too. Fairly
busy but always seem to able to squeeze anyone in." |
