Bonjour! Welcome to Café des Amis, one of the most romantic and charming spots to dine in the Kansas City area.

In an upstairs location overlooking quaint downtown Parkville, Provence native Didier Combe has created a warm and casual environment for diners to enjoy great French food. Tree-lined wooden decks wrap around the restaurant providing popular outside seating.

During the day, sunlight pours in through lacy curtains and complements the yellow walls, white tablecloths and wooden floors. In the evening, the old streetlights of Parkville add to the ambience.
The menu offers a sampling of the finest French cuisine with an array of beautifully prepared fresh meats and seafood, appetizers, salads and desserts.

Begin your meal with a choice of delicate appetizers such as Pate Maison or steamed Prince Edward Island mussels. Entrees include baked wild ruby red trout, seared duck breast and New Zealand rack of lamb.

Jonathan Blue Springs 9/5/07 Food Service Atmosphere	"Cafe Des Amis has joined the list of perfect restaurants in the greater Kansas City. Mrs. Food Snob and I found ourselves in Parkville a few weeks ago, and were delighted be able to enjoy Didier Combe's delightful restaurant. It being a lovely night, we were able to sit outside on the welcoming deck, and agreed that it evoked memories of our honeymoon in Napa Valley. I chose the Escargot for my first course, and the Mrs. took the Foie Gras salad. Both were excellent, and frankly the escargot was the best I've ever had (and I've had a LOT of escargot over the years. I'm on the 10 most wanted list in all of snaildom.) The next course involved an excellent filet mignon in a port reduction sauce for the mrs, and the dinner special of a foie gras topped filet for me. Again, perfect, as were the fruit tart and the chocolate mousse. The wine list, although perplexing at first in that it offered nothing but French wine (which, I suppose, goes with a French restaurant, I know) but more and more you see choice California selections as well. Luckily these weren't on the list, as I instead ordered what turned out to be a lovely little Bordeaux. Service was perfect in the classical French sense, as in waiters appeared when needed but were otherwise invisible. As mentioned above, Cafe Des Amis has joined the American and Starkers in the very exclusive list of perfect Kansas City restaurants. Viva la France! "

There was a problem with one dish and the staff handled it very well and it in no way reflected badly on the whole experience. You should not come to this restaurant without trying their muscles! This restaurant is our favorite KC restaurant and we only found it because of the restaurant guide which we pick up every time we are in KC."

I have spent many years going to France, greatly enjoying the foods of the region. Honestly this reminded me so much of a perfect French meal one would only expect to find there. The atmosphere, friendliness, and quality of the food was marvelous. 2 meals in 3 days says it all! I work for the local paper in NY, and I am always looking for locations like this. I only wish we had a similar Restaurant in my area that would compare to Cafe Des Amis! Wonderful!"

The pastry dessert was delicious. Some of the items were a bit overpriced but the restaurant had great ambiance. The owner greeted us and was very friendly"

The mussels were a great appetizer. They offer Chimay ale, always a plus in my book. Finished off the night with a fine snifter of Armagnac. All in all a great meal and evening out under the stars in Parkville."
