Starker’s Reserve is one of Kansas City’s best kept
secrets. Situated on the southwest corner of 47th Street & Wyandotte
Street above Restoration Hardware, Starker’s has become a legendary
favorite for locals and discerning visitors looking for upscale yet
comfortable, traditional dining.
Founded in 1972, Starker’s Reserve is one of Kansas City’s last
privately-owned restaurants on the Country Club Plaza, an upscale
shopping and dining district. Starker’s is open to the public and
offers private dining rooms for many special functions. Guests are
treated to an unmatched dining experience of seasonal, contemporary
American cuisine in an atmosphere of elegance, sophistication and
intimacy.
Chef
/ Owner John McClure is passionate about food and wine. His
enthusiasm for uncompromising flavors is harmonized by the
restaurant’s soothing glamour and a wine list deep enough to satisfy
any connoisseur. With a current inventory of approximately 1,665
styles of wine and a bottle count reaching 12,000, Starker’s has
maintained Wine Spectator’s “Grand Award” for wine lists since 1992,
a prestigious award currently given to only 88 restaurants around
the world. In an effort to remain on this list, Bath and General
Manager Dean Smith participate in wine education seminars and
training throughout the country. Many of the staff has achieved
sommelier status to assist guests with wine suggestions and food
pairings.

John is committed to crafting a menu that compliments the
restaurant’s wine offerings by seeking the best products and
freshest ingredients from its local, regional and international
growers to fashion his beautiful presentations and flavorful dishes.
An annual Zagat Survey favorite, Starker’s features a fun, elegant
menu that changes daily and dishes that will make you want to break
into applause. Featured items include heirloom tomato salad, Kobe
flat-iron steak, sautéed halibut with blue crab potato hash and
Cleo’s snickerdoodles’ cookies.
