"I ordered the goat cheese raviolis topped with braised lamb. The sauce was delicious and the lamb was tender. My company had the flank steak, which was slightly overcooked. We dined around 12:45 on a Tuesday and the restaurant was really slow, however our food and wine delivery took longer than expected. Lunch menu was limited but the pricing was a lot more value-appropriate considering the petite portions. " |

"Had good service by staff but far too long wait between courses (staff apologized several times). Several courses were
tasteless

"Since my dining partner are both firm E Coast, we are particular abt eating crab cakes in KS. They were very good. Since my family goes boar hunting I understand the taste. 40 Sardines boar was delicious w/o the gamey taste---I like both. Two dishes that are difficult to find in KS and my two favorites. We will be back. Miss Trumpets Piano Bar, tho, that used to be there. Server needed a bit of grooming for the elegance of the restaurant. Appreciate it is located closer to home for us than downtown KS or up north. |

"Absolutely fantastic menu. Try the Chefs selection. The Boar was delightfully tender. Highly recommend this dish.

"40 Sardines was opened not long before I moved
away from Johnson County a few years back. I had eaten there soon
after they first opened, and the owners made it a point to introduce
themselves and make sure that all of our needs were attended to.
When I returned to KC recently, I was pleasantly surprised that they
were still open given the restaurant turnover at that particular
location in the previous years. On this return trip, we enjoyed
delicious martinis from the bar, wonderfully flavored shrimp bisque,
pan seared sea scallops with inside-out raviolis, and a fabulous
marinated/julienne squash. Our particular waiter had been there
since opening, and was very helpful and knowledgeable with
recommending dishes and wines, in addition to providing excellent
service. It was a fine evening and a memorable experience. I look
forward to returning to 40 Sardines on my next trip to KC. " |

"This neighborhood bistro has upper class,
cuisine sass and most of all, great taste served in a friendly
manner! Hard combination to beat, and indeed, matches or exceeds
many upscale dining places in Dallas! Whenever I visit family in the
KC area, we make it a point to gather round at 40 Sardines. Nothing
"fishy" about it but the name! (Just wish they had a cigar smoker's
patio/terrace.) " |

"I have faithfully visited 40 Sardines since the
day they opened and to be honest it has been a roller coaster ride.
Some great and some not so great. However, I truly believe that they
now have the right "recipe for success". The last three visits have
been very good but the last was over the top! The tomato salad was
amazing and the scallops were perfect! It was a business dinner and
each person enjoyed their dinner as much as the other." |

"Great food and choices of wine. Chef made two special
combination appetizer towers for our group. Yum! Servers were
attentive and professional. I enjoyed begin seated at the
"kitchen view" table to watch the action; although some thought it
was too loud." |
